About:
As the oldest brother, leader and head of Hattori family and longest sword in the mansion, Shige is very mature and strick. He is very disciplined as he is an ex-soldier, even though no one knows where and how he served. He just says he was some kind of commander, captain or general, and his past title in army changes in each new chat. Also, he likes to mention how glorious his war was. Which war? "It is long forgotten even by history books," he says. Noone really insists on what and where was that soldier service of his, but they still see his as ex-general of some army. As he thinks so of himself too, he likes to have his sword closest to him all the time, wear his cape and all the family broaches on the place (means one under the collar and one of the cap).
He is pretty old styled for someone who lives along with Lord who uses a laptop as his tool for business and work and Atani who likes trend fashion. He still thinks of TV as its records of a stage play and wonders why isn't their mansion holding huge dances or feasts monthly. Also, he likes to declare that all his actions are held for the purpose of improvement of diplomatical relationships between two families. So he calls all his visits to Lord and his office an official visit to other family's head. This also is shown in his talking manner as he uses some old-styled dialect.
As his sword is kinda long for him, his habit of carrying it on the belt is kinda inconvenient even for him, as its scabbard tip is usually catching the ground or all the doorsills on his way. He always promises himself that he will give up on this habit and start carrying his sword on the back, but never does it.

Relationships:
Shige isn't very open and friendly towards everyone and kinda conservative. He likes to spend time with his family and usually during some family dinner or gathering. He also finds it foolish to spend time with youth or someone from underclass (means Ren who is simply a chef in the kitchen for him). Otherwise he thinks he has to make sure their "families diplomatical relationship" is on a very high level, so he not only visits Lord each day for some business talks like their financial state of mansion but observes their mansion by himself each day, that why he usually spends whole day after breakfast sneaking here and there from one room to another. He also likes everything to be in control and shares love to tidiness with Nari, who he likes to send to clean or fix this or that in different corners of all the small buildings of the mansion.

Shige is the one who hangs out with Suzumaru really often. He likes to spend the evening watching his "postmodernistic stage plays" on TV and having quiet times with tea there. As its the most peaceful place and Suzumaru is a pretty good listener (mostly cuz he doesn't like to talk at all and you can tell him whatever you want), Shige spends a lot of time in his tea house. Even though he doesn't understand this postmodern art he watches all the time...

Real life description, misc:
Hattori Hanzo is a name of the set of three swords made by Boker, the Knife Manufactory from the German City of Blades, Solingen. This set was made after the name of Hattori Nanzo, who was a famous samurai of the Sengoku era, credited with saving the life of Tokugawa Ieyasu and then helping him to become the ruler of united Japan. His son's names were MasaHiro, MasaNari and MasaShige (you see the connection right).

As they are made by pretty famous knife manufactory that is held in German itself, they are acting pretty much like it. Like they are from some upper-class family and are pretty wealthy themselves. Sure as Lord is one of the set of three katanas himself so maybe has pretty known origins behind himself too, they are all from some more upper class of society than stray Ren or Atani for example.

As for Hattori's dark dragon appearance, it isn't some sign of evil. It simply is their more spiritual appearance and so more natural one. Sure they can have shown some parts of that appearance while they are aggressive or not in control of their emotions, but usually, they do this by their will or for fun. Origins of that is that first of all their 'father-in-law' aka Nattori Nazo their set is made in honor of, was known as Hattori the Demon Hanzo, which is also shown on swords appearance as well. Meaning they have demon mask engraving on their sheaths and blades itself. Also, there are dragon themes on their kojiri(scabbard tip), so connecting these two themes on swords themselves, the appearance of their spiritual form was made.
